Q: WHO ARE THE AGN BOARD OF DIRECTORS?

A: The Board of Directors is comprised of between seven and 11 volunteers who serve one-year terms and are elected at the Annual Meeting each May to a one-year term. The Board oversees the stewardship of AGN properties and handles regular operations of the organization. Each of these individuals welcomes your suggestions and comments as to how we all can make AGN more responsive to the concerns of neighborhood residents.

A: All residents of Great Neck are welcome to become a member of AGN. The simplest way is to join online, or mail a check along with the membership card to AGN, PO Box 130, Ipswich, MA 01938. Once your information is received, you will be sent a parking lot hangtag which needs to be displayed on your rearview mirror or on the front dashboard when parking at the Clark Beach and Bowdoin Road lots. Please note households receive one hangtag.

A: The Clark Beach Management Plan is AGN’s blueprint for managing Clark Beach, which spans from Bowdoin Road to Clark Road, and includes the beach and tidal flats (to mean low water), seasonal vehicle access, and the Clark Beach and Bowdoin road parking areas. The management plan, approved by Ipswich Conservation Commission, is in place to protect Clark Beach as a protected area as defined by the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and the Ipswich Wetlands Protection Bylaw. The Management Plan includes policies such as the Clark Beach Rules & Regulations, the dog policy, the pram/kayak policy, and restrictions on vehicle access.

A: Prams & kayaks are only permitted on the racks at Clark Beach, and must be registered with AGN and display a current AGN pram/kayak sticker. Owners assume all responsibility for their pram/kayak. To obtain a pram/kayak sticker, you must be a member in good standing of AGN.  AGN Boat Policy Prams or kayaks without a current sticker or not stored on a rack are subject to removal at the owner’s expense.

A: According to the Clark Beach Dog Policy, dogs are required to be on a leash to the low mean tide line during 8 am – 8 pm from May 15 - October 1 to protect Clark Beach as a natural resource and to ensure a pleasant beach experience for everyone. Dogs are also allowed on Clark Beach without a leash during the off season. All dog waste must be picked up and removed from Clark Beach.

A: Scholarships are available to Great Neck residents who are seniors graduating from secondary school by June of the year of the award, and whose families are members in good standing of AGN. The application deadline is early April and awards are made at the AGN Annual Meeting at Clark Beach in mid-May. Application forms are available in the Guidance Office of the Ipswich High School and on the AGN website.  Applicants will be assessed according to the merits of an essay they submit about their experience growing up/living on Great Neck. Scholarships are made available through funds raised at the annual 5K Road Race, Art by the Sea, and member donations.

A: AGN partners with Eastern Propane for discounted rates on propane. The discounted rates are dependent on the number of gallons used where the more gallons of propane you buy, the lower the cost per gallon.
