Drone Policy

Recreational and Commercial Drone Technology is growing in popularity and we anticipate its use on Clark Beach and Clark Pond in the coming years. The use of drones (unmanned aircraft) on Clark Beach or Clark Pond is not permitted without approval from the AGN Board.

Effective May 1, 2017, the following process must be followed by any AGN member who wishes to use a drone on AGN property.

An email request must be submitted in advance, and must provide the Board of Directors with the following information:

• Date of Use of the Drone
• Duration of the use of the Drone
• Purpose of the use of the Drone
• Name of the Drone operator

The AGN Board of Directors will review the request at a regularly scheduled monthly meeting. The Board will vote on the request and will communicate in writing the outcome of the vote as soon as possible to the Great Neck resident making the request. The request will be based on the potential impact to users of the Clark Beach area, on the neighbors, and on the environment guided by the provisions of the Deed of Conservation Restriction, the Clark Beach Management Plan, and the Clark Pond Sustainability Plan. The decision of the Board will be final.

Some guidelines for use are as follows:

• Unmanned aircraft may not disturb or harass wildlife or people.
• Unmanned aircraft may not be launched, landed, or operated from or on areas that are designated as wilderness.
• Unmanned aircraft will not be flown in an inappropriate manner.
• Inexperienced unmanned aircraft operators must be accompanied and assisted by an experienced operator.
• Operators must avoid flying directly over people, vessels, vehicles or structures and must avoid endangering the life and property of others.
• Unmanned aircraft must be within visual sight of the operator at all times during flight of the unmanned aircraft.
• One single pilot may not control more than one unmanned aircraft at the same time.
• No nighttime operations are permitted.
