Q: WHO ARE THE AGN BOARD OF DIRECTORS?

A: AGN is an all-volunteer organization that relies largely on individual memberships and donations. Our Bylaws require that our Board of Directors have between seven and eleven members who are elected at the Annual Meeting to serve one-year terms. The Board of Directors oversee the stewardship of our properties, our events, and our little library. Each of these individuals would welcome your comments as to how we can make AGN more responsive to the concerns of our neighbors and beyond.

Q: HOW DO I JOIN AGN?

A: All residents of Great Neck are welcome to Become a Member of AGN. There are two ways to purchase a membership, send a check along with the membership card to AGN, PO Box 130, Ipswich, MA 01938 or online using PayPal. Once your information is received, you will be sent a Clark Beach parking pass, which needs to be displayed on your rearview mirror when parking at Clark Beach. In 2018 parking stickers were replaced with a parking pass/hangtag to help alleviate parking problems at Clark Beach and enforce the one car per household limit. Note only vehicles displaying the AGN parking pass/hangtag are permitted to park at Clark Beach.

Q: WHAT IS THE CLARK BEACH MANAGEMENT PLAN?

A: The Clark Beach Management Plan is AGNs blueprint for managing Clark Beach, which spans from Bowdoin Road to Clark Road, and includes the beach and tidal flats (to mean low water), seasonal vehicle access, and parking area. We have a management plan, which is approved by Ipswich Conservation Commission, because Clark Beach is a protected area as defined by the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and the Ipswich Wetlands Protection Bylaw. The Management Plan includes policies such as the Clark Beach Rules and Regulations, the dog policy, the pram/kayak policy, and restrictions on vehicle access.

Q: WHAT ARE THE GUIDELINES FOR KEEPING A PRAM/KAYAK AT CLARK BEACH?

A: Prams & kayaks are only permitted on the racks at Clark Beach, and must registered with AGN and display a current AGN pram/kayak sticker. Also owners assume all responsibility for their pram/kayak. To obtain a pram/kayak sticker you must be a member in good standing of AGN. To register your pram/kayak and purchase an AGN sticker, download the AGN Pram/Kayak Policy, fill out the Pram/Kayak registration form (page two of the Pram/Kayak Policy), enclose payment, and send to AGN, PO Box 130, Ipswich, MA 01938. Once your information has been processed, a pram/kayak sticker will be mailed to you. Note any prams or kayaks without a current sticker or not on a rack are liable to be removed at the owners expense.

Q: ARE DOGS ALLOWED ON CLARK BEACH DURING THE SUMMER?

A: Clark Beach is a unique natural resource. Dogs are permitted on Clark Beach to enjoy this resource with you year round. In the interest of protecting this natural resource and ensuring a pleasant beach experience for everyone, Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times to the mean low tide line from May 15 to October 1 between the hours of 8am and 8pm, which is the Clark Beach Dog Policy.

Q: WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY FOR AN AGN SCHOLARSHIP?

A: Qualifying candidates are selected each year for scholarship awards. These awards are available to Great Neck residents whom are seniors graduating from secondary school by June of the year of the award, and whose families are members in good standing of AGN. The application deadline is early April and awards are made at the AGN Annual Meeting at Clark Beach in mid-May. Application forms are available in the Guidance Office of the Ipswich High School and on the AGN website. Applicants will be assessed according to the merits of an essay about their experience growing up/living on Great Neck. Scholarships are made available through funds raised at the annual 5K Road Race, Art by the Sea, and member donations.

Q: WHO DO I CONTACT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE AGN PROPANE GROUP BUY PROGRAM?

A: AGN partners with Eastern Propane for discounted rates on propane. The discounted rates are dependent on the number of gallons used where the more gallons of propane you buy, the lower the cost per gallon. For more information and/or to participate in the Great Neck Program, contact Dawn Darling at Eastern Propane, 800-322-6628 x2023.

Q: WHO SHOULD I CONTACT TO VOLUNTEER WITH AGN?

A: AGN welcomes volunteers of all ages to help with projects, events, light gardening, and mailings. Please contact the AGN Board at info@associationofgreatneck.org, or contact an individual Board Director or Officer. Please provide your name, address, and the skills you could offer.
